The protagonist's father contracted the “idiot virus” during the pandemic, leaving him with impaired memory and diminished intelligence. He later disappeared. Three years after his disappearance, he sends the protagonist a letter.

To find him, the protagonist must go to Rustown, the city the letter came from. Rustown is a slum that formed as the infected gathered there, cast out by their families and society after their intelligence declined. Beyond the reach of the authorities, it is a lawless place where gangs of the uninfected clash with gangs of the infected.

Why did he disappear? What is happening in this city? The protagonist steps onto Rustown's streets in search of answers.
